Govinda ruled the 90s with several blockbusters, one of the most celebrated stars is now left with no work. Unfortunately nowadays keeping him in news is his fallout with filmmaker David Dhawan, with whom he worked the most in the past, to his opinions about his nephew Krushna Abhishek who has been seen time and again poking fun at him. In an interview with Times of India, he revealed he is no more the pious Govinda but a rather bitter one in current times.
The actor revealed how he has been sidelined and not being offered work in the industry. He revealed that his movie releases also face issues these days due to conspiracy against him. During the interaction when he was asked if he was soaking himself in the spiritual vibes, he replied that it’s the other way round. He shared nowadays his approach is more business-like and not emotional one that he had in the past. Coolie No. 1 actor also shared his emotional nature came in his way in the past, but not anymore.
He said, "No, it is the opposite; I have become more corrupt and bitter. These days, I party, smoke, and also drink. The old Govinda was very pious. Earlier, my emotional nature came in the way of my work but today, I don't get emotional. I deal with situations more practically and business-like."
When asked about the reports of him turning down offers made at him he replied that the projects coming his way are loads with violence and sex. He said, “This is a new rumour that has started doing the rounds. They, in fact, conspire by offering me films that I would not like – ones with sex and violence. If you want to make a film that has a lot of sex, why not make porn films?” ALSO READ:
He further shared that one of the productions, also thought that the actor can be roped in for shorter duration roles, only songs, ultimately making him equivalent to Bhagwan dada and turning him into a junior artiste.
“I also know there was a discussion in one of the offices to give Govinda 15 scenes and two songs and then later make him Bhagwan Dada by giving him just songs, and thereafter make him a junior artiste. But I did not let them succeed. Maine band baja di (I gave it right back),” adds Govinda.
